Singapore’s low-cost airline Scoot, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, commenced operations of its first Embraer E190-E2 aircraft on May 7, 2024. The launch event at Changi Airport was graced by Guest of Honour Mr. Chee Hong Tat, Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Finance.

The E190-E2 has a single-class configuration with 112 seats, a 29-inch seat pitch, and larger cabin windows. It is touted as the industry’s quietest and most fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft.

“The E190-E2, with its modern operating capabilities and fuel efficient credentials, was a natural choice as we looked to grow Scoot’s fleet.”

Scoot CEO Leslie Thng

“We are confident that with this new-generation aircraft, we will continue to strengthen our presence in the region, enhance our connectivity to non-metro destinations and provide our customers with even more memorable travel experiences,” Thng said.

The first E190-E2 commenced inaugural flights to Krabi and Hat Yai on May 7th. Krabi offers scenic coral reef vistas and beaches, while Hat Yai is known for its night markets and street food.

Scoot currently operates a mixed fleet of over 50 aircraft comprising widebody Boeing 787 Dreamliners, Airbus A320 family aircraft, and now the Embraer E190-E2. As of May 7th, the airline flies to 67 destinations across 15 countries and territories.

The second E190-E2 has arrived in Singapore, with the remaining seven aircraft expected to be delivered progressively by end-2025. Scoot plans to deploy the new aircraft to enhance connectivity on regional routes like Koh Samui, Miri, Kuantan and Sibu.
