Hawaiian Airlines has launched a new daily nonstop service between Salt Lake City (SLC) and Honolulu (HNL), coinciding with the summer travel season.

The inaugural flight was celebrated with a festive gate-side event that featured fresh orchid lei, POG juice, cake, and live music and hula by the Hawaiian Airlines Serenaders.

Flight HA-84 departs from Honolulu at 6:50 PM and arrives in Salt Lake City at 5:15 AM the following day. The return flight, HA-83, leaves Salt Lake City at 7 AM and lands in Honolulu at 9:55 AM, providing travelers with ample time to enjoy the island.

“We know the Hawaiian Islands have a special place in the heart of Utahns and for some, a Hawaiʻi vacation also means reuniting with friends and family,” said Brent Overbeek, Hawaiian Airlines’ executive vice president and chief revenue officer.

“Our new Salt Lake City service comes at the perfect time for travelers planning their summer vacations and we look forward to welcoming them with our award-winning Hawaiian hospitality,” Overbeek added.

Bill Wyatt, executive director of Salt Lake City International Airport, also expressed enthusiasm for the new route.

“We extend a warm welcome to Hawaiian Airlines as they join the SLC International Airport family,” Wyatt said. “Hawaiian Airlines has a reputation for excellence in hospitality and we look forward to many years of prosperity.”

Passengers on the 189-seat Airbus A321neo will enjoy amenities including free high-speed Starlink internet, Hawaiʻi-inspired menus by featured chefs, local beverages from Maui Brewing Co. and Kō Hana Hawaiian Agricole Rum, island snacks from the Pau Hana Cart, and complimentary in-flight entertainment featuring exclusive content from HanaHou! TV.

In celebration of the new route, Hawaiian Airlines is hosting a “31 Days of Lei” pop-up event at City Creek Center in Salt Lake City on May 18 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The event will feature orchid hair pins, flower lei, exclusive campaign merchandise, and POG-flavored cotton candy.

Live music and hula performances by the Hawaiian Airlines Serenaders will also be part of the festivities. Attendees can enter a sweepstakes to win 200,000 HawaiianMiles.

Hawaiian Airlines, now in its 95th year, operates approximately 150 daily flights within the Hawaiian Islands and offers nonstop service between Hawai’i and 16 U.S. gateway cities, as well as international destinations.

The airline is known for its commitment to hospitality and punctuality, having led U.S. carriers in on-time performance for 18 consecutive years as reported by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
