Three EVA Air flight attendants have been commended for their quick action in diffusing a physical altercation between two passengers on flight BR-08 from Taipei to San Francisco on May 7th, 2023.

According to statements released by EVA Air to CNN and Taiwanese media outlets, the altercation began when a passenger, bothered by another passenger’s coughing, attempted to move to a nearby seat.

This action led to a dispute with another passenger who claimed ownership of the unoccupied seat. The argument escalated into a physical fight, as evidenced by a video posted on X by user @AlexNewsweekly.

The video shows two of the flight attendants physically restraining one of the passengers, while a third positioned herself between the two men to prevent further violence. Other passengers can be seen attempting to de-escalate the situation.

EVA Air confirmed that the flight attendants, with the assistance of fellow passengers, successfully separated the two individuals.

The captain, as reported by The Liberty Times, contacted San Francisco airport police, and both passengers were handed over to authorities upon landing.

The airline emphasized its “zero-tolerance policy towards incidents of passenger nuisance” and lauded the flight attendants for their professionalism.

EVA Air assured the public that it would provide appropriate rewards to the crew members involved and continue to monitor their well-being.

This incident is not the first time EVA Air has made headlines for passenger misconduct. The airline has faced criticism in the past for its handling of passenger behavior, including a 2019 incident involving an obese passenger demanding assistance from female flight attendants.
