A Cessna 172M Skyhawk aircraft registered as RP-C6923, operated by Leading Edge International Aviation Academy, Inc., made an emergency landing shortly after takeoff from San Fernando Airport (RPUS) this morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:23 AM local time, 0.5 nautical miles from the threshold of Runway 01.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported receiving a COSPAS-SARSAT alert indicating the aircraft’s coordinates near San Fernando Airport.

The aircraft had declared an emergency following its departure from Runway 19, leading to a ditching incident.

Rescue efforts were promptly initiated by the CAAP’s Crash Fire and Rescue (CFR) unit and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

The two people on board, identified as the flight instructor in command and one passenger, were rescued with minor injuries and transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.

The flight route was local, with the aircraft intended to operate between San Fernando Airport and Luna before returning to San Fernando.

The cause of the emergency is currently under investigation by the relevant authorities.
