Low-cost carrier AirAsia Philippines is set to recognize its top-performing travel agency partners, known as “Redstars,” at the 7th annual Redstar Awards on May 15.

The awards ceremony aims to honor these agencies for their significant contributions to the airline’s flight sales revenue and ancillary product sales in 2023.

“Keeping the travel and tourism industry alive for the past three years is a collaborative effort by airline companies and travel agencies. We deeply acknowledge their great contribution in cascading our programs and helping rebuild travel confidence,” said Ricky Isla, CEO of AirAsia Philippines.

The Redstar Awards will honor travel agencies that excelled in selling AirAsia flights and ancillary products such as meals, extra baggage, preferred seating, and the Fast Pass program. These agencies played a crucial role in supporting the airline during the challenging period of the pandemic when air travel was limited.

According to AirAsia Philippines, bookings as of May 2024 have already reached 45% of the total 6.6 million seats sold in 2023. The airline attributes this increase in bookings to the contributions made by its travel agency partners, in addition to its online booking platform, AirAsia MOVE, and its official website, airasia.com.

The Redstar Awards ceremony recognizes the importance of collaboration between airlines and travel agencies in reviving the travel and tourism sector, especially during the challenges posed by the pandemic.
