AirAsia Philippines is forecasting a robust second half of 2024 as more Filipinos are willing to spend on travel, according to a recent study by travel platform Klook cited by the airline.

The study found that over 70% of Filipinos are ready to increase their spending on airline tickets, accommodations, and activities this year. While domestic travel remains a popular choice, 76% indicated they are prepared for international trips in 2024.

AirAsia’s second quarter load factor data showed that over 1 million Filipino travelers, or 78.9%, have already booked flights until June 2024 to international destinations like Taipei, Bangkok, Narita, Osaka, and Incheon.

“AirAsia Philippines’ commitment to provide the best affordable travel deals…and our high regards for safety and service excellence has always been the blueprint to boost travel excitement,” said Steve Dailisan, AirAsia’s Head of Communications and Public Affairs.

With a running load factor over 80% as of May 13th, AirAsia expects its second quarter figures will surpass the 92% load factor achieved in the first quarter, driven by more last-minute summer bookings.

To stimulate demand, AirAsia is offering a PHP1,750 one-way base fare to Australian cities like Perth, Sydney and Melbourne for travel until March 31, 2025.

To enhance connectivity, AirAsia Philippines will increase flight frequency from Cebu to Boracay and Davao to daily.

Additional domestic flights to Bacolod, Bohol, Cebu, Iloilo, Kalibo, Puerto Princesa, and Tacloban continue to operate from Manila’s NAIA Terminal 2, with frequencies ranging from three to nine times daily.

International routes to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Osaka, Seoul, and other cities operate three to 14 times weekly from NAIA Terminal 3.
