Tacloban Airport will be implementing temporary operating hours from May 2 to August 2, 2024, due to scheduled maintenance and repairs on the runway.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Area VIII issued a public notice stating that the airport’s operations will be limited to 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM during this period.

The decision follows a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by CAAP on April 24, 2024, outlining the planned maintenance work, which includes an asphalt overlay on the runway.

To facilitate the repairs, the airport’s regular operating hours, from 4:30 AM to 8:30 PM, will be temporarily shortened.

“Sunrise-sunset operations will take place, while repairs will be carried out at night. This schedule allows ample time for the asphalt to cure before the first-morning flight traverses the runway,” stated a CAAP press release.

According to the authorities, the repair work is being expedited to ensure completion before the onset of the rainy season.

The NOTAM is effective for three months but can be lifted earlier if the runway repair is completed ahead of schedule.

The temporary changes are expected to impact a total of 12 daily flights to and from Manila, operated by three airlines.

Passengers are advised to coordinate with their respective airlines for updates on their flights during this period.
