Korean Air and WestJet have significantly expanded their codeshare partnership to provide more transpacific travel options starting May 17, 2024. The enhanced agreement allows both airlines’ customers to access an increased network spanning across Asia and Canada.

A key addition is that Korean Air will begin selling seats on WestJet’s new nonstop route between Seoul-Incheon (ICN) and Calgary (YYC). This new WestJet route will operate three times weekly using Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

“The launch of WestJet’s Calgary – Seoul Incheon route will bolster connectivity between Korea and Canada, while our strengthened partnership will seamlessly connect customers to an expanded array of Asian and Canadian cities through our hubs in Incheon and Calgary, respectively.”

Tae Joon Kim, Korean Air Senior Vice President

Through the expanded codeshare, WestJet passengers gain access to Korean Air flights from Incheon to six new destinations: Bangkok, Da Nang, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Conversely, Korean Air customers can tap into WestJet’s domestic routes across Canada.

“Our longstanding reciprocal partnership with Korean Air opens up exciting opportunities for leisure and business travellers to more locations in the Asian continent and offers new guests in Asia access to all of Canada through our global hub in Calgary.”

Jeff Hagen, WestJet’s VP of Commercial Development and Partnerships

The airlines initiated their codeshare relationship in 2012, which has grown to encompass 36 routes following this latest expansion. Customers can book codeshare itineraries through the respective airline’s website and earn frequent flyer miles across the entire journey.

Korean Air and WestJet’s enhanced transpacific partnership provides significantly improved connectivity across two continents from the airlines’ hubs in Incheon and Calgary.
