AirAsia Philippines is set to fly ambassadors from various ASEAN and Asian countries to Boracay for a 3-day International Business Forum and Diplomatic Visit aimed at promoting economic and tourism partnerships for the island paradise.

On Thursday, April 18th, AirAsia flight Z2 217 will transport ambassadors from Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Pakistan, and Taiwan, along with other diplomatic staff, to Caticlan Airport, the gateway to Boracay.

The forum will provide a platform for diplomats, business leaders, stakeholders, and local government officials to discuss opportunities for collaboration, digital marketing, and sustainable tourism in Boracay.

“As an ASEAN carrier, AirAsia takes pride in welcoming our ambassadors to Boracay,” said AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla, who is a panelist at the forum. “By flying our international leaders, we hope to contribute in promoting Boracay not just as a tourist destination, but also as a potential foreign investment hub.”

AirAsia currently operates 9 daily flights from Manila to Caticlan, 1 daily flight from Clark, and 3 weekly flights from Cebu, in addition to 3 daily flights via Kalibo International Airport.

“AirAsia is the preferred airline partner of guests traveling to Boracay because of its affordable fares, deals with over 1,000 hotels and accommodations on the island through the AirAsia MOVE platform, and world-class service,” Isla added.

Boracay, recently recognized by various international publications and awards for its pristine beaches and luxury travel offerings, is a top booked destination for AirAsia, with over 300,000 seats sold for the first quarter of 2024 alone.

During the pandemic, AirAsia promoted Boracay among leisure travelers by flying in Filipino celebrities under its “Airline of the Stars” campaign to support local businesses.
