UPS, the global logistics giant, has committed over $250 million in investments across the Asia Pacific region since the start of 2023, which includes the construction of a new hub planned at Clark International Airport.
The company signed an agreement with the Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corporation (LIPAD) to expand its operations in Clark. Construction on the new Philippine hub is set to begin in February 2025 and is expected to be fully operational by late 2026.
“We have been doing business in our Philippines hub for more than 25 years, helping to connect businesses to markets in Asia Pacific and beyond,” said Wilfredo Ramos, president of UPS Asia Pacific. “The investments UPS continues to make through this expansion will enhance time in transit across Asia Pacific and continue to deliver service reliability for our customers.”
Josephine Gotianun Yap, Chairperson of LIPAD, welcomed the UPS expansion, stating, “This partnership between UPS and LIPAD also represents a significant milestone in developing Clark as an ideal logistics hub for global brands…LIPAD, which operates Clark International Airport, looks forward to welcoming UPS to its future location in Clark.”
In addition to the new Philippine hub, UPS has recently invested in upgrading facilities in Singapore, Japan, China, Vietnam, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. The logistics provider has also expanded its cold chain capabilities for healthcare shipments across nine Asia Pacific markets.
“Asia Pacific continues to be one of UPS’s fastest growing regions,” Ramos said. “UPS has continued to invest in our network to maximize speed and flexibility, build solutions addressing the shift of global trade lanes, and offer resilience for our customers.”
The wave of investment aims to strengthen UPS’s integrated express, supply chain, and healthcare logistics services while capitalizing on the growing regional trade flows.
