United Airlines plans to introduce new nonstop flights between Tokyo’s Narita International Airport and Cebu, Philippines, starting July 31st, 2024. The daily service will make United the only U.S. carrier offering direct transpacific flights to Cebu.
Patrick Quayle, United’s Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances, said:
We have consistently been ahead of the curve in finding hidden gem destinations for our customers to explore and remain committed to providing the most unique slate of travel options for their adventures abroad.
The airline will utilize Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the Cebu route.
The new Tokyo-Cebu flights will provide connections from several of United’s U.S. gateways, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Newark, and Houston via the airline’s existing service to Narita.
United currently operates daily nonstop flights between San Francisco and Manila, in addition to service from Guam and Palau to the Philippine capital.
The American carrier launched San Francisco-Manila flights on October 29th, 2023. The transpacific flight is operated aboard the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER fleet.
Quayle remarked:
With our leading global network and elevated inflight experience, United has become the airline of choice for discerning customers looking for experiences they can’t have with any other carrier.
United flight UA-32 departs from Tokyo-Narita at 5:25 PM (UTC+9) and arrives in Cebu at 9:35 PM (UTC+8). The return flight, UA-33, departs from Cebu at 9:15 AM and arrives back in Tokyo at 3:20 PM.
Notably, United elected to use the flight numbers currently being utilized on the Los Angeles-Narita route. The airline looks to be operating a connecting air service between Los Angeles and Cebu with a plane change at Tokyo-Narita for a few hours.
United set to launch more routes
Beyond Cebu, United also unveiled new international routes to Marrakesh, Morocco, from Newark, and Medellin, Colombia, from Houston, commencing later this year.
Moreover, the airline is increasing flights to destinations like Hong Kong, Seoul, and Porto as part of its expanding global footprint.
Tickets for the new Cebu service are now available on United’s website and mobile app.
The route launch comes as United rebuilds its presence in mainland China, set to resume four weekly Shanghai-Los Angeles flights from August 29th.
