230

Azerbaijani cargo airline Silk Way West Airlines has announced an amendment to its contract with Boeing for the purchase of an additional Boeing 777 Freighter. The new aircraft is scheduled for delivery in 2025.

This move is an extension of the original agreement signed in April 2021, wherein Silk Way West Airlines committed to purchasing five Boeing 777 Freighter aircraft. Two of these aircraft have already been received, and the remaining jets are expected to be delivered by 2027.

The Boeing 777 Freighter is known for its advanced technology and environmental performance. It offers reduced emissions and lower fuel consumption compared to other freighter aircraft.

The aircraft is equipped with innovative features and technologies that enhance operational efficiency while reducing environmental impact. Its lightweight composite materials and advanced aerodynamics set new standards for sustainability in air cargo transportation.

Silk Way West Airlines’ commitment to a modern and eco-friendly fleet aligns with the growing global emphasis on sustainability in the air cargo industry.

The 777 Freighter will provide Silk Way West Airlines operational flexibility with five 747-8 Freighters and seven 747-400 Freighters the carrier currently operates. The 747 and 777 freighters are capable of carrying tall and outsized cargo loads on 3-meter-tall pallets.

The enhanced fuel efficiency of the 777 Freighter, along with the airline’s recent selection of the 777-8 Freighter, will support the carrier’s near- and long-term sustainability goals.

Aside from Boeing planes, the cargo airline has also placed an order for two Airbus A350F, scheduled to be delivered from 2027.

Silk Way West Airlines is the largest cargo airline in the Caspian Sea region with an annual cargo turnover of more than 500,000 tons. Based at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku, the airline operates hundreds of monthly scheduled flights to 40 destinations around the world.
