Malaysia Airlines announced several major developments at the MATTA Fair 2024 in Kuala Lumpur today. The Malaysian national carrier signed a multi-year partnership with Manchester United football club, making Malaysia Airlines the Official Commercial Airline for the team.

According to the airline, this partnership is poised to extend its renowned Malaysian Hospitality to Manchester United’s vast community of over 1.1 billion fans and followers worldwide.

The airline also introduced three new international routes from its Kuala Lumpur hub—daily flights to Malé, Maldives starting August 1st, daily flights to Da Nang, Vietnam starting September 24th, and five weekly flights to Chiang Mai, Thailand beginning August 15th.

According to the Malaysian carrier, the new route will mark the airline’s 13th destination in South Asia and 16th in ASEAN as it seeks to boost its presence within key markets.

Moreover, a key unveiling was the new Airbus A330neo cabin featuring the Elevation business class seats and Recaro economy seats. Malaysia Airlines will be the first to offer the Elevation suites with privacy doors on the A330neo when the aircraft starts arriving in the third quarter of 2024.

The economy Recaro seats promise enhanced ergonomics and amenities like coat hooks and wireless charging.

With these developments, Captain Izham affirmed Malaysia Airlines is “accelerating investments into our product and service delivery to elevate the customer experience” after a strong 2023 financial performance.

Captain Izham added: “With our Manchester United collaboration, the expansion of our network to three new routes, and the unveiling of the new cabin seats on our new A330neo; this sets the benchmark of exciting things to come as we redefine what it means to travel onboard Malaysian Hospitality.”
