Collins Aerospace, a unit of RTX, has delivered the first shipment of main cabin aircraft seats from its production facility in Tanauan City, Philippines to Airbus. The Meridian® seats will be installed on an Airbus narrow-body aircraft for an undisclosed airline customer.
Christophe Blanc, Vice President and General Manager of Aircraft Seating for Collins Aerospace, said:
Adding main cabin seating production to our Philippines facility is a critical milestone in the future of Collins’ seating business.
The Tanauan City site’s seating capacity is projected to triple over the course of 2024, with deliveries planned for 14 different customers across various aircraft manufacturers for both new deliveries and retrofit programs.
Opened in 2012, the Philippine facility currently manufactures galleys, galley inserts, oxygen equipment, and lavatories in addition to the newly added seating line. The ramp up in seat production provides greater regional support for customers in the Asia-Pacific market.
