Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific Air has grown its fleet with the delivery of a brand new Airbus A330neo aircraft.
The Airbus A330-941, registered as RP-C3905, arrived at the airline’s Manila hub, Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
The aircraft departed from the Airbus Delivery Center in Toulouse, France, on March 1 at 11:00 AM (UTC+1) and touched down in Manila at 7:58 AM (UTC+8) the following day after a 13-hour and 17-minute flight.
According to Cebu Pacific, the aircraft was fueled with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to power the delivery flight.
Alex Reyes, Cebu Pacific Chief Strategy Officer, said:
This aircraft delivery is consistent with our commitment to incorporating SAF in our operations. Using SAF is one of the steps we are taking towards reducing carbon emissions and advance our sustainability agenda in the aviation industry.
This A330neo (MSN 1967) marks Cebu Pacific’s eighth aircraft of the type and the first widebody delivery for the airline this year. One more A330neo is expected to join Cebu Pacific’s fleet this year.
Originally intended for AirAsia X, the Malaysian airline did not take up MSN 1967 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2019, Cebu Pacific placed a significant order for 16 Airbus A330neo aircraft at the Paris Air Show, supplementing an additional order of 15 Airbus A320neo family aircraft. The airline welcomed its first A330neo in November 2021 and began operations with the aircraft the following month.
Cebu Pacific plans to utilize its A330neo fleet to replace its aging Airbus A330ceo aircraft and expand its route network. The airline has already retired seven Airbus A330ceos, with one remaining in its fleet.
Earlier, AUP reported that Cebu Pacific targets to operate a total of 91 aircraft by the end of 2024. The low-cost carrier plans to add 17 new aircraft to its fleet this year, including two ATR 72-600s, two Airbus A330neos, and 11 Airbus A320 family aircraft.
