AirAsia Malaysia inaugurated its first-ever route to Australia on March 11, 2024, with a daily service between Kuala Lumpur and Perth.

The inaugural flight, operated by an Airbus A321neo aircraft (9M-VAA), departed Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) at 2:30 PM, with a passenger load factor of 95 percent.

As of posting, the inaugural flight is currently enroute to Perth International Airport and is set to arrived at 7:35 PM.

This new service increases connectivity between the two cities, adding to AirAsia X’s existing daily medium-haul flights on the Kuala Lumpur-Perth route.

Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, said:

We’re truly excited to launch AirAsia Malaysia’s first ever route to Australia commencing with one of our most frequented cities in the country – the beautiful Perth – adding to our daily existing flights on this route  operated by our medium-haul affiliate airline AirAsia X (AAX).

The new service will increase flight options and provide competitive fares for travellers between Kuala Lumpur and Perth.

AirAsia is celebrating its new route with promotional fares starting at RM299 (one-way) from Kuala Lumpur to Perth and AUD166 (one-way) from Perth to Kuala Lumpur. The promotional fares are available for booking until March 17, 2024, for travel between now and November 30, 2024.

Perth is a popular tourist destination for Malaysians, attracting visitors for leisure, education, and visiting family and friends.

AirAsia notes that Malaysia is also the fourth-biggest international visitor market for Western Australia.

Flight AK-604 is scheduled to depart from Kuala Lumpur at 2:10 PM and is set to arrive in Perth at 7:50 PM. Flight AK-605, the return sector, is scheduled to depart from Perth at 8:40 PM with an arrival set at 2:40 AM in Kuala Lumpur the following day.
