The Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the U.S. Pacific Air Forces conducted joint patrols over the Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) on Monday, February 19, 2024.
The patrols form part of the 3rd Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA) designed to enhance regional security.
The Philippines deployed three FA-50PH fighter jets, while the United States provided a B-52H bomber aircraft.
Patrols focused on areas within the Philippines’ EEZ, specifically 90 nautical miles west of Candon, Ilocos Sur and 50 nautical miles northwest of Lubang, Mindoro.
In a Facebook post, the PAF said:
This cooperative activity aims to bolster cooperation between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and their US counterparts, thereby enhancing interoperability between its Air Forces.
The PAF emphasized its “commitment and readiness to support the AFP’s efforts in safeguarding the national territory and sovereign rights, and upholding regional peace and security.”
