Concurrently, the China Airlines aircraft was undergoing ground servicing after recently arriving from Taipei, Taiwan.

According to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), the PAL flight to Hong Kong experienced a delay exceeding three hours, as reported by The Manila Bulletin.

The Philippine flag carrier was compelled to switch aircraft to continue with the flight, as the damaged A330 needed to be grounded for wingtip repairs.
