PAF airlifts landslide victims in Davao de Oro for medical attention

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) deployed helicopters to rescue residents affected by a landslide in Barangay Masara, Maco, and Davao de Oro on Wednesday, February 7th.

Responding to the emergency, the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing and 505th Search and Rescue Group sent UH-1H and Sikorsky S-76 helicopters to the affected area.

A landslide swept over two buses owned by Apex Mining Co., which were transporting employees from the mining site, and also engulfed numerous residences.

According to a report from INQUIRER.net, the Maco Municipal Information Office has recorded 110 missing persons as of 4 PM on Thursday, February 8th. Meanwhile, confirmed deaths rose to 11 people following the landslide.

In a coordinated effort with ground troops, the PAF was able to rescue three individuals from the debris. The victims were immediately airlifted to Apokon in Tagum City for urgent medical attention.

The PAF said via its Facebook post:
