Calgary-based Lynx Air, a low-cost airline offering flights across Canada, the U.S., and Mexico, has filed for creditor protection under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA).

As a result, the company will cease operations effective 12:01 AM (MT) on Monday, February 26, 2024.

Lynx Air cited “rising operating costs, high fuel prices, exchange rates, increasing airport charges and a difficult economic and regulatory environment” as the primary factors behind its decision to file for creditor protection.

The ultra-low-cost carrier launched in April 2022 and quickly expanded its fleet and destinations. Despite its growth, Lynx faced significant operational challenges that ultimately proved insurmountable.

Passengers with existing Lynx Air bookings are advised to contact their credit card companies to secure refunds.

Additional information is available on the Lynx Air website’s Frequently Asked Questions page (https://www.flylynx.com/en/faq-lynx).
