Lilium, the developer of an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) jet, has entered a partnership with PhilJets, a leading aviation provider in Southeast Asia.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was announced at the Singapore Airshow and includes plans to purchase 10 Lilium Jets.
The partnership aims to launch an eVTOL network in the Philippines and other Southeast Asian countries like Cambodia.
Lilium and PhilJets will work together to establish routes, identify suitable landing infrastructure (vertiports), and develop strategies for passenger demand within the region.
The Philippines, an archipelago with thousands of islands, provides a strong market for eVTOL technology, according to Lilium. Lilium’s eVTOL aircraft offers the potential to greatly improve transportation between islands.
Thierry Tea, Chairman of PhilJets, said:
Our team is proud to collaborate with Lilium on the mission to transform the Philippine´s mobility with eVTOLs. With its growing economy, geography, and important tourism industry, the Philippines is a great match to the Lilium Jet’s capabilities.
Sebastien Borel, Chief Commercial Officer at Lilium, added:
The Philippines is well suited for eVTOLs to effectively connect thousands of islands together through sustainable and high-speed air mobility. Asia is a key market for Lilium — and with the unique topographical challenges this region presents, the innovative design of the Lilium Jet is uniquely suited to address them.
The Lilium Jet has commenced production and offers quiet operation with zero emissions. This new aviation partnership signals a move towards more sustainable air travel across Southeast Asia.
