Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific Air has reinforced its commitment to affordable, accessible travel within the Philippines by signing a new lease agreement with European regional aircraft manufacturer ATR.

The deal, finalized at the Singapore Airshow, includes two new ATR 72-600 aircraft intended for Cebu Pacific’s regional arm, Cebgo.

These additions will expand the airline’s existing fleet to 18 ATR 72-600s, enabling the airline to increase its network of inter-island flights across the archipelagic nation.

Mark Julius V. Cezar, Chief Financial Officer of Cebu Pacific, said:

The addition of two more ATR 72-600 aircraft into our fleet reaffirms our commitment to providing safe, affordable, and reliable flights for every Juan, especially to the small islands and communities that we serve with these aircraft. We look forward to flying more passengers as we continue our fleet expansion efforts.

Known for its fuel efficiency and ability to operate on shorter runways, the ATR 72-600 is perfectly suited for the Philippines’ diverse island terrain.

This strategic fleet expansion builds upon Cebu Pacific’s initial 2015 order for 16 ATR 72-600 aircraft at the Paris Airshow.

The airline was the launch customer for a new high-density variant of the aircraft, with deliveries beginning in 2016 up to the present.

Fourteen of these aircraft have been delivered to date, with two more expected to complete the original order.
