Cebu Pacific Air, the Philippines’ largest low-cost carrier, has expanded its fleet with two Airbus A320ceo aircraft acquired through a damp lease agreement with Bulgaria Air. This move aims to address the growing demand for air travel and expand Cebu Pacific’s domestic network.

The two 180-seater jets commenced operations on January 14th, 2024, and will primarily serve the airline’s trunk routes between Manila and Cebu (twice daily) and Manila and Davao (four times daily) until March 2024.

Alexander G. Lao, Cebu Pacific President and Chief Commercial Officer, said:

We welcome these two aircraft from Bulgaria Air into our fleet, which is just one of the various measures we are undertaking to strengthen our operational resiliency. These additions will ensure that Cebu Pacific will continue to provide a convenient, reliable, and affordable air travel to every Juan.

Damp leasing, also known as ACMI, involves the lessor airline providing an aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance to the lessee. Bulgaria Air, the national carrier of Bulgaria, has extensive experience in this type of arrangement, having partnered with airlines worldwide.

The addition of these two leased aircraft brings Cebu Pacific’s commercial fleet to a record 76 aircraft at the start of 2024. This expansion enables the airline to offer the widest domestic coverage and more competitive airfares.

Cebu Pacific has been on a consistent growth trajectory, accepting 19 aircraft in 2023 and aiming to reach a fleet size of 92 by the end of 2024. The airline currently serves 35 domestic and 25 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
