Chinese airline, Xiamen Air, is set to recommence its flight operations between Davao, Philippines, and Jinjiang, China, after a three-year hiatus, based on the airline’s reservations website.

The announcement of the flight resumption was made during the 5th anniversary of the sisterhood agreement between the two cities. The event took place in Davao City on Thursday, September 28, 2023.

As per the schedule, Xiamen Air flight MF-8695 will take off from Jinjiang at 9:00 AM (UTC+8), landing in Davao at 12:25 PM (UTC+8). The return flight, MF-8696, will leave Davao at 1:25 PM and touch down in Jinjiang at 4:50 PM.

The airline will be deploying its 170-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft for this route.

While news reports have suggested that the resumed route would initially operate on a weekly basis, indications from the airline’s reservation platform reveal a bi-weekly service—specifically, every Sunday and Wednesday.

Xiamen Air first introduced the Jinjiang-Davao route in December 2018. However, it had to suspend operations in early 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The resumption of flights is expected to boost cross-regional tourism and deepen economic collaboration. The sisterhood agreement between Davao City and Jinjiang City was inked in November 2018 with the aim of fostering stronger links between the two cities.
