Greater Bay Airlines is set to make a significant mark on the travel scene with its exciting new route launching on November 8, 2023. According to AeroRoutes, the airline will commence a non-stop service, operating five weekly flights between Hong Kong and Manila.

The new service will see Boeing 737-800 aircraft take to the skies, with departures from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) at 11:50 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. These flights will touch down at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) at 2:00 AM the following day, offering passengers an efficient and convenient travel option. For the return journey, flights will leave MNL at 3:00 AM and smoothly arrive at HKG at 5:10 AM on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

This move marks Greater Bay Airlines’ first foray into the Philippine market, representing a significant milestone for the airline as it continues its ambitious network expansion. Currently, the airline operates flights to numerous destinations, including Bangkok, Tokyo, Osaka, Taipei, Seoul, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Expanded connectivity from Manila

Moreover, Greater Bay Airlines’ initiative comes amidst a broader trend of airlines recognizing the potential of Manila as a bustling travel hub. Other airlines have been quick to respond to the demand. Shenzhen Airlines, for example, is resuming flights between the Philippine capital and Shenzhen, China, on October 31, 2023, while Batik Air Malaysia is scheduled to launch flights from Kuala Lumpur on December 2, 2023.

American carrier United Airlines is set to join the ranks with its San Francisco-Manila route scheduled for takeoff on October 30, 2023, and Jetstar Asia resuming flights to Osaka-Kansai on November 24, 2023.

Dutch airline KLM is also making adjustments to its service to Manila, now routing through Taipei instead of Kuala Lumpur. Vietnam Airlines will make a triumphant return to the Manila market, with flights to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi beginning on December 1, 2023, and December 2, 2023, respectively. Additionally, local carriers Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines are expanding their reach as they individually launch flights to Da Nang on December 7, 2023, and to Tuguegarao on October 29, 2023.

The launch of Greater Bay Airlines’ new service is an exciting development that promises to further enhance connectivity between Hong Kong and the Philippines, providing more options for travelers and fueling the ongoing growth of this vibrant travel market.
