AirAsia solidified its leading position in the aviation industry, securing two major awards at the World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia and Oceania 2023. The airline clinched the title of “Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline” for the eighth consecutive year and “Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew” for the seventh year.

Competing against more than 10 airlines, AirAsia secured the highest number of votes from industry insiders, travelers, and travel professionals across Asia. This recent accolade complements AirAsia’s previous achievement of being named the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline by Skytrax for 14 years in a row.

Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group Limited, expressed gratitude for the continuous support. “We would like to thank the nearly 800 million guests and our incredible Allstars for rocking our world! As we aim to reinstate 200 planes back into operations by year-end, we remain dedicated to enhancing the customer experience both on the ground and in-flight. Here’s to a fantastic journey ahead!”

Additionally, Suhaila Hassan, AirAsia Group Head of Cabin Crew, shared her pride in the cabin crew’s continued recognition. “This award is a heartfelt tribute to our exceptional cabin crew members who consistently go above and beyond for our guests. It not only applauds their effort but drives us to keep pushing boundaries and deliver unforgettable journeys to all our travelers.”

On the digital frontier, airasia Superapp earned the “Asia’s Leading Online Travel Agency (OTA)” award on its first nomination. The app has made strides in the travel industry by offering a holistic booking experience with options to choose from over 700 airline carriers, 900,000 hotels globally, ride-hailing services, and duty-free shopping experiences.

Commenting on the win, Chief Commercial Officer of airasia Superapp, Tan Mai Yin said, “Winning this award over other established OTAs reinforces our commitment to revolutionizing travel through technology. We remain devoted to consistently elevating our services and providing unmatched experiences to our users.”

The World Travel Awards, initiated in 1993, is renowned for recognizing exemplary standards across various segments of travel, tourism, and hospitality.
