The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has partnered with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to hold a technical mission focusing on Air Traffic Management (ATM) and Aeronautical Information Services/Aeronautical Information Management (AIS/AIM).
The mission, taking place from 17 to 21 July 2023, aims to analyze and enhance the regulatory structure, service delivery organization, operating environment, and processes in the Philippines concerning ATM and AIS.
Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo expressed his gratitude for ICAO’s guidance and support, emphasizing the importance of the mission’s objectives. He said, “CAAP has been constantly receiving guidance and support from ICAO, which enables us to further improve our regulatory structure and operational processes. To my CAAP colleagues, remember that our primary objective is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of our ATM/AIS, and to identify priority areas, while ensuring the continuous improvement and enhancement of our services.”
During the week-long activity, personnel from the CAAP Air Traffic Service (ATS) and Aerodrome and Air Navigation Service Safety Oversight Office (AANSOO) will actively participate.
The ICAO representatives will closely observe ATC operations and systems at the Manila Area Control, Approach Control, and Aerodrome Control facilities.
The results of the mission will be instrumental in bolstering the Philippines’ ATM and AIS systems to meet ICAO standards, ultimately enhancing the safety and efficiency of air traffic and air travel in the country.
