AirAsia Philippines reported an increased load factor during the first half of the year, surpassing its pre-pandemic 2019 figures.

The Philippine-based subsidiary of AirAsia reported a 92% load factor during H1 2023 (January to June 2023), an increase of 1% compared to the same time period in 2019.

The airline also reported a much higher load factor – 94% – for the first 15 days of July compared to the same time period in 2019 (88%).

“We attribute the increase in load factor to the trust our guests have placed in AirAsia. Our improved on-time performance, best value for money deals and safety protocols entice our customers to fly with the World’s Best Low-Cost Carrier. Our guests can also expect timely updates on flight schedules whenever there are disruptions brought about by weather or non-scheduled maintenance of aircraft to promote transparency in our day-to-day operations,” said Steve Dailisan, Head of Communications and Public Affairs/Spokesperson, AirAsia Philippines.

As the airline continues to see increased post-pandemic passenger traffic, AirAsia Philippines’ biggest hub in the country – Manila International Airport – reported 22.2 million passengers passed through the airport between January and June 2023 – 8% higher compared to prior to the pandemic.

“AirAsia Philippines is in close collaboration with industry and government partners in providing efficient, affordable and seamless travel among guests with passenger traffic expected to peak again in the coming months,” Dailisan added.
