Oman Air, the national airline of the Sultanate of Oman, has been recognized as the most punctual airline in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) for 2022, according to the annual On-Time Performance Review by aviation analytics firm Cirium.

The review, considered the global gold standard for airline and airport performance, is based on data gathered from over 600 sources of real-time flight information. It considers on-time flights as those that land within 15 minutes of the scheduled gate arrival.

The latest review measured the on-time arrivals of Oman Air at 91.38%, almost 5% higher than the second-highest-ranking airline in the region.

Captain Nasser bin Ahmed Al Salmi, Chief Operating Officer at Oman Air, said that the airline had achieved this recognition “despite a challenging global operational environment”, with many airports affected by disruptions and resource challenges in addition to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“To have achieved this recognition for on-time performance against some of the world’s most reputable airlines is a testament to the dedication and hard work of all Oman Air staff across our global network,” said Al Salmi.

He added: “As we enter into 2023, we look forward to continuing to pursue excellence in all elements of our guest experience, from punctuality to convenience, our products and services, and of course our signature Omani hospitality.”

In the past year, Oman Air has earned several accolades, including the 2023 Five-Star Major Airline rating by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX). The 30-year-old airline has also made additional investments in its products and services, including offering an innovative cabin design and continuing to grow its list of destinations from its main hub in Muscat.

Oman Air currently flies to Manila daily using its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Flight WY843 departs from Muscat at 09:05 AM, arriving in Manila at 9:30 PM. The return flight, WY844, leaves Manila at 07:15 AM the following day, arriving in Muscat at 12:30 PM.
