AirAsia Philippines, as part of the AirAsia Group, has been named one of the top 20 safest low-cost airlines in the world for 2023 by the international aviation rating organization, AirlineRatings.com.

The airline received a perfect 7 out of 7 rating for safety and COVID-19 compliance.

AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla said, “In AirAsia, we live and breathe safety. From the challenges brought by the pandemic to the most recent incident impairing the country’s communications and navigation facilities, our Allstar employees have demonstrated professionalism, tenacity, and resilience. This recognition from AirlineRatings.com is both a reminder and a motivation for all of us to raise the bar even more in the service of all our dear guests.”

According to AirlineRatings.com, the top 20 safest low-cost airlines in alphabetical order are Air Arabia, AirAsia Group, Allegiant, Air Baltic, easyjet, FlyDubai, Frontier, Jetstar Group, Jetblue, Indigo, Ryanair, Scoot, Southwest, Spicejet, Spirit, Vueling, Vietjet, Volaris, Westjet, and Wizz.

The factors considered in determining the top 20 safest low-cost airlines include incident and crash records from the past two and five years, respectively, results of audits by the governing body of aviation, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), EU banned lists and the age of the fleet.

On the path to recovery

On the other hand, the airline said it is on its path to a strong recovery, with an overall load factor of 75 percent achieved in the first ten days of January. Caticlan (Boracay) was the most booked domestic destination with an 85 percent load factor, followed by Tacloban (75 percent) and Cebu (70 percent).

According to AirAsia, Seoul-Incheon, South Korea, was the most preferred international destination among Filipino travelers, with flights originating from Cebu and Manila achieving a 97 percent and 95 percent load factor, respectively.

To entice more guests to travel, AirAsia is launching its New Year, New Deals Sale, which offers a Php 71 one-way base fare to domestic and international destinations such as Osaka, Tokyo, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Incheon. The sale is available for booking until January 15, 2023, for travels from January 9 to July 31, 2023.
