After being suspended for almost three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic-related border restrictions, Philippine Airlines will resume flights Xiamen, China.

From January 13, Philippine Airlines will resume regular scheduled service to mainland China with once-weekly flights between Manila and Xiamen. Using Airbus A330-300 aircraft, the Manila-based airline plans to build up flight frequencies over time in line with the easing of restrictions and applicable government approvals.

“The reopening of our Manila-Xiamen service is a happy development as we welcome the new year, and a good start for the restoration of our flights to and from the Chinese mainland. Philippine Airlines is continuously working towards flying back to more cities in China, with our goal of operating the largest network of flights between the Philippines and multiple cities in mainland China,” said Bud Britanico, VP for Sales, Philippine Airlines.

“Moving forward, we are excited to serve more customers and strengthen the warm and friendly relations that unite the Chinese and Filipino people,” Britanico added.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Philippine Airlines operated flights to five cities in China: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiamen, and Quanzhou (Jinjang). After services on the routes were suspended, the airline operated authorized charter flights to select cities including Nanjing, Hangzhou, Tianjin, and Wuhan.
