Two new firm orders for Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft have been placed by Island Aviation, Inc., a Philippine charter airline, signaling the return of Twin Otter operations in the country.

Island Aviation is well-known for running charter flights from a private air terminal in Manila to an opulent beach resort in Palawan, Philippines, using its current fleet of Dornier 228 aircraft.

Island Aviation will have more performance and flexibility when operating in and out of airfields with short runways throughout the archipelago thanks to the addition of two new Twin Otters.

“We selected the Twin Otter to support our operations because of its long record of in-service reliability and low operating cost,” said Captain Emmanuel (“Butch”) Generoso, Chief Operating Officer, Island Aviation, Inc.

“We are looking forward to the re-introduction of Twin Otters to our fleet where they will service the exclusive resort, Amanpulo with flights from Manila.”

The Twin Otter is distinguished by its exceptional performance capabilities and flexible quick-change interior options in its configurable 19-passenger cabin. There have been more than 140 Series 400 aircraft delivered to operators worldwide.

“De Havilland Canada is delighted to see the Twin Otter return to operation in the Philippines after a long absence and with such an experienced and well-regarded operator as Island Aviation,” said Philippe Poutissou, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, De Havilland Canada.

Island Aviation was established as A. Soriano Aviation, Inc. in 2003.
