Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific Air expands its domestic and international foothold as it reestablishes flights to previously served destinations before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Philippines placed Metro Manila and 38 other areas from Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao under Alert Level 1, the lowest level of health restrictions until at least March 15. For the aviation sector, this makes it possible to operate full capacity on airliners departing from Alert Level 1 areas.

The airline’s Summer 2022 flight schedules see a massive increase in flight frequencies to major destinations within the Philippines and foreign countries and the reintroduction of some domestic inter-island and ASEAN routes.

Cebu Pacific plans to relaunch flights to Siargao and Surigao from the Manila hub beginning March 27 and March 29, respectively. Flights to Siargao would be operated thrice daily, while flights to Surigao would be operated twice weekly.

Due to the onslaught of Typhoon Odette (International: Rai), airlines were forced to cancel flights to both Siargao and Surigao for two months. This comes after both airports were damaged and temporarily closed to commercial aviation.

Meanwhile, the low-cost airline plans to relaunch twice-weekly flights from Manila to Bali, Hanoi, and Kota Kinabalu on March 27. Notably, these cities are popular tourist destinations, which indicate a more positive outlook in the international tourism sector as pandemic restrictions ease.

Cebu Pacific will also reintroduce flights to select destinations from the Cebu hub. Operated by subsidiary Cebgo, the airline plans to launch twice-daily flights to Siargao on March 27, twice-weekly flights to Surigao on March 28, and weekly flights to Calbayog on March 29.

On the other hand, the airline will reconnect its Davao hub to more destinations, which sees the addition of quadruple-weekly flights to Iloilo on March 27, and thrice-weekly flights to Zamboanga on March 29. Thrice-weekly flights from Iloilo to General Santos will also operate beginning March 29.

Aside from new route additions, Cebu Pacific hiked frequencies to most domestic and international destinations to facilitate the increased demand for air passengers in preparation for the summer season.
