In the latest move in an ongoing feud between Airbus and Qatar Airways, the European aircraft manufacturer has cancelled more orders for the Qatari-flag carrier.

First reported by Reuters, Airbus revoked orders for two Airbus A350-1000s as both parties engage in legal proceedings over what Qatar Airways has stated are surface degradation issues on its A350s.

The cancelled orders were also revealed in Airbus’ recently released orders and delivery data. In the report, Airbus stated that Qatar Airways currently has 40 A350-1000s on order – two less than the 42 initially ordered by Qatar Airways.

Airbus’ move to cancel the two A350-1000s orders follows the cancellation of a separate order for 50 Airbus A321neo aircraft by Qatar Airways.

Currently, Qatar Airways and Airbus are engaged in legal proceedings in a London High Court. Due to the grounding of the affected aircraft by Qatari aviation regulators, Qatar Airways is seeking over USD $600 million in damages from Airbus and has stopped accepting further A350 deliveries. Qatar Airways has stated it will only accept A350 orders again when it deems the issues are adequately addressed and resolved.

As a result of the surface degradation issues, Qatar Airways has previously reported that 21 of its 53 A350s have been grounded.
