Due to damage sustained when Typhoon Odette hit the Cebu area in mid-December, the Mactan Cebu Airport is shifting all departures to Terminal 2.
In a statement by the Mactan Cebu Airport’s operator GMR Megawide Cebu Airport (GMCAC), the central Philippine air hub will shift domestic and departures to Terminal 2 due to extensive damage at Terminal 1. Domestic arrvials will use Terminal 1’s South Wing. International arrivals will continue to use Terminal 2 to remain compliant with arrival health protocols by the Philippine government’s Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).
The move will be effective at January 16, 6:00AM (Philippine Time).
“The damage to T1 has been far more extensive especially at T1 Departure areas and we are currently mobilizing original manufacturers and suppliers of the various damaged structures and systems to rectify all the damage. However, to safeguard and protect passengers and staff and ensure that rectification work can proceed unhindered in T1, GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC) will consolidate all departures for both Domestic and International in Terminal 2. Domestic arrivals will continue to arrive at Terminal 1 South Wing Arrivals as that is the least damaged section,” GMCAC said in the statement.
According to the airport, the move has been approved by the Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) an, in-principle approval (written pending) from the Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine Bureaus (CIQ) based in Manila.
“We remain committed to provide our guests and passengers the highest standards of service and safety with our uniquely Cebuano hospitality,” GMCAC added.
