Abu Dhabi-based carrier Etihad Airways is looking to hire up to 1,000 cabin crew as the aviation sector rebounds from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The recruitment drive will take place from the 11th of October to the 22nd of November across multiple cities in the UAE, Middle East, and Europe, including Egypt, Lebanon, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Russia. Those who are interested must register in advance by visiting the airline’s Careers page

Employees who were laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic are also welcome to apply through the company’s alumni programme.

“I am pleased to say Etihad is in a position to start hiring cabin crew again,” Jihad Matta, Etihad’s Head of Crew Performance and Support, said in a statement. “The last 18 months have been incredibly difficult; however there is much to be positive about as travel restrictions ease and we ramp up operations to meet growing demand. A critical part of this is rebuilding our cabin crew team.

“For those interested in joining, this is an amazing opportunity to be part of something special, where no two days of work will ever be the same and you will be supported to grow your career every step of the way.”

Successful candidates will undergo training at Zayed Campus, the airline’s training academy in Abu Dhabi.

Etihad crew members are provided with fully furnished accommodation near Abu Dhabi International Airport, as well as tax-free salary, medical insurance, concessional travel benefits, transport to and from work, and discounts on food and beverage and leisure activities in Abu Dhabi.

The resumption of cabin crew hiring is a major turning point for Etihad after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the company to lay off thousands of employees. Etihad employed around 5,000 flight attendants before the pandemic. As of June of 2021, however, the airline only had around 2,200 cabin crew.
