The operator of Bali, Indonesia’s Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) will be offering incentives to foreign and domestic airlines to boost traffic as Bali reopens to tourists from select countries.

In a statement released earlier this week, the state-owned company PT Angkasa Pura I (AP1) said it will be waiving landing fees at Ngurah Rai International Airport from October 14 to December 31, 2021. From January 1 to June 30, 2022, all foreign and domestic airlines will get a 50 percent discount.

“We are hoping that with this incentive, it would ease the airlines’ burden to reactivate their international routes to and from Bali,” said AP1 CEO Faik Fahmi.

AP1, however, clarified that the incentives will only be offered to commercial flights. Cargo, charter, and general aviation flights are not included in the incentive program.

AP1 also said that it will be supporting airlines by promoting their flights via social media.

Bali, Indonesia’s most popular tourist destination, reopened to foreign tourists on Thursday (October 14) for the first time since March of 2020. However, only vaccinated travelers from 19 countries — including China, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, and Spain — are allowed to enter.

Visitors to Bali must present proof of full vaccination and two negative COVID-19 test results — one taken within 72 hours before departure and another upon arrival. Visitors will also be required to quarantine for five days at a designated hotel. A complete list of entry requirements can be found on the Welcome Back to Bali website.
