Boutique airline Sunlight Express Airways launched direct cargo flights between Manila and Cebu on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.
The inaugural cargo flight on the Manila-Cebu route was operated by the airline’s 70-seat ATR 72-500 aircraft with registry RP-C6386.
Sunlight Air Cargo Sales Manager Joana Marie Garcia told AUP the airline is also planning to launch cargo flights from Manila to Bacolod and Cagayan de Oro on June 15.
The announcement will be made official soon, said Garcia.
Likewise, the airline will deploy the ATR 72-500 for these new routes.
As of the moment, Sunlight Air operates Manila-Puerto Princesa, Manila-Busuanga, and the recently launched Manila-Cebu cargo flights. The airline’s passenger flights were temporarily ceased when Metro Manila was placed under MECQ anew.
However, Sunlight received clearance from the Department of Tourism (DOT) to operate passenger flights to its own Sunlight Eco Tourism Island Resort via Busuanga airport. This is part of the Point-to-Point (P2P) Air Travel for Leisure Purposes from the NCR Plus area program of the DOT.
