PAL, Cebu Pacific extend cancellation of UAE-bound flights

Following restrictions put in place by the Philippine government on travelers from the the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Philippine-based carriers Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific announced they have extended their flight cancellations between the two countries.

In a report from several media outlets such as The Gulf News and the Manila Standard, both carriers will be extending their flight cancellations involving flights between the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates until June 15.

On a Facebook post on June 1, Cebu Pacific confirmed that its Manila-Dubai flights between June 4 and 14 and Dubai-Manila flights for June 5-15 have been cancelled.

Meanwhile, Philippine Airlines plans to resume its once-weekly Manila-Dubai flights on June 16.

The Philippines previous imposed restrictions on inbound travel from eight countries including the United Arab Emirates, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Oman starting in mid-May.

While the Philippine-based carriers cancelled their flights to Dubai, UAE-based Etihad and Emirates will continue to operate their flights between both countries. However, the flights will be restricted for those starting their trips from the UAE and will only available for those in transit from non-restricted countries.
